Taraba acting Governor meets with security council members

The Acting Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar, on Friday held a meeting with the state security council with all the principal officers sacked by Governor Danbaba Suntai in attendance.Saturday Punch learnt that the meeting which took place at the Council Chambers of the Governor’s office in Jalingo, was attended by the State Police Commissioner, the Director of State Security Service, the sacked Secretary to State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf, and Chief of Staff, Mr. Garvey Yawe, among others.Though details of the meeting were not made public, sources said that the meeting lasted less than 10 minutes, adding that the new SSG and Chief of Staff recently inaugurated by Suntai were absent. Umar was said to have left his official office some few metres away from the office of the governor to hold the meeting at the council chambers of the governor’s office. The meeting coincides with calls from five out of the nine members of the National Assembly from Taraba State on Umar to continue to run the state’s affairs as the acting governor. The lawmakers included a senator, Abubakar Umar-Tutare and four members of the House of Representatives.According to the lawmakers, Umar is to run the state until the ailing Governor, Mr. Danbaba Suntai, is
